Tire Tubes for Low Platform Trailer Tires

Trailer tire tubes CAN be used for rim leaks, but SHOULD NEVER be used to repair a puncture. This includes sidewall tears or cracking, vandalism punctures, and even punctures in the tread. The RMA or Rubber Manufacturers Association, is very clear on their recommendations for tire repair.

If you have any questions, please call us to make sure that you are using a trailer tire tube properly and safely

In general, most trailer tires are tubeless. Because of the abuse these tires take, rims can get banged up causing rim leaks and air pressure loss. If the tires are punctured or sidewalls are cracked, you should consider replacing the tire.

Low profile trailer tires come in fewer sizes so you can not just use your average tube. The rim is bigger and these tubes will only fit a few tire sizes and have a special valve. These trailers are made for heavy cargo and require a good quality, heavy duty tire tube.

Tire tubes can fit many different tire sizes, so if you don’t see your tire size listed, just give us a call and we will find the right tube for your trailer tire and application.

HELPFUL REMINDER ABOUT TIRE TUBES: Tire tube manufacturers are moving toward only producing RADIAL TIRE TUBES due to the fact that they can be used in both radial and bias tires. Still, some tire tubes are made in both radial and bias construction. Just remember RADIAL TIRE TUBES can be installed in both RADIAL TIRES AND BIAS TIRES, but BIAS TIRE TUBES can only be installed in BIAS TIRES. So, if your tire is of bias construction but a bias tube is not available, don’t hesitate substituting a radial tube. NOTE: A Radial tube is designated with an “R” in the size (ex. 18.4R30).
